Creative Kitchen
Artsmonkey was delighted to be able to develop 'Creative Kitchen' in 2010 with the support of fostering teams and foster carers across the South East aimed primarily at foster carers looking to refresh and develop their creative skills and knowledge and understand why creativity is so essential to young peoples emotional and mental wellbeing. It takes the form of an informal workshop, with messy play and lots of hands on activity.
"This was a brilliant session. I never thought I could be creative, I have since enjoyed using my craft box with a three year old that I had on respite."

Making It Work
A five hour session looking at what young creatives need to know to make their talents and creative skills and knowledge 'work' for them. From practical stuff such as self employment and tax and promotion to a more in-depth look at what they do and understanding how they could be doing it.
"So today we had a session with Juliet Brain who is an art consultant. It was really nice to meet her she was very helpful. My blog for today will be what I wrote in our speedwriting exercise. I think it pretty much sums up my feelings of the day. Here it goes:
I figure I need to think very seriously about freelance work. I want to make a living working in the music world, as a performer but also as a song writer or even concert manager or something of the sort. I want to be successful without losing a sense of what my passion is but at the same time be at peace if things don’t work out. OYAP is giving me a great opportunity + sense of focus and I am very grateful. I must use this experience as well as I possibly can for my own benefit so I can become who I want to be. That is all."
Making It Work is written by Artsmonkey and produced in association with OYAP contact Liz MaCaffrey-Pine admin@oyap.org.uk if you're interested in booking this session for groups of 6 - 15 people.
